Boom Beach is located on the seaward (eastern) side of Isle au Haut. The waves crashing on the rocky shore are quite spectacular at this place, more so than most other areas of the island. When a large storm hits, the sound of the rocks moving as they are pounded by the waves can be heard on the opposite side of the island, hence the name.
