This shed is actually on York Island,
directly to the east of Isle au Haut.
The shed was probably built in
the 1920s or 1930s when York was home to a thriving fishing
community but is now in serious disrepair and unsafe to
enter. The buoys and potwarp, however, are still in service,
used by the lone resident of the island.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
TRESPASSING ON YORK ISLAND IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN.
The island is private property and is posted as such.
Due to the recent advent of the island being inundated
with kayakers and pleasure boaters (many of whom have
demonstrated a most callous disregard for the privacy
of the island's resident), the owner of York Island will
no longer permit uninvited visitors.
