January, 2005. We've had a bit of a cold spell; a couple of weeks with highs rarely going above 5 degrees fahrenheit and overnight lows approaching double-digit negatives. In addition to the problems of frozen plumbing in a few of our homes, the bay started freezing over, threatening to cut us off from the mainland. This photo shows the thoroughfare between Isle au Haut and Burnt Island to our north completely frozen.
