The town dock being a place of great activity, I spent a good deal of time there when I was young. The thoroughfare was the mooring spot for at least a dozen lobster boats and I would watch with great interest as the lobstermen came and went, thinking that I'd like to be a lobsterman someday. I don't recall the circumstances under which this particular photo was taken but this small dock must have struck me as picturesque enough to be immortalized on film. In retrospect, I suppose it is, albeit no more picturesque than any or all of the other fisherman's docks on the island. As far as I am concerned, each one is a work of art.
